very impressed.. hope it holds out better than the minicooler I got. In a room at 74°F, this dropped the inside down to 3°C within 12 minutes on Max. Very impressed.. seems to have a liquid system for even distribution. Ran well overnight on ECO. maintains temp very well. Very quiet, not a lot of heat so it may be safe on rugs.12V, 24V (at 6 Amps max), and runs on 110V (likely 220V, but I didn’t check). Holds most 20oz soda bottles in one direction, but the 24oz have to be the other. I could believe it will fit a wine bottle, probably a couple. It allowed me to set below -2°C, so I expect it will act like a freezer.. haven’t tried yet. Unit definitely has a bit of weight compared to other units, but shouldn’t leave much of a dent in furniture for the short term. I originally got it for personal cooler storage at the trailer I work out of, but I think I’ll keep this one at home for now. Very happy.. Will update next year if it holds up.Update: after 6 months, still running great. Due to lack of room in the car, I have stopped bringing it back and forth, but it still works great. The only odd issue is even though it runs practically silent, it can vibrate the floor to make a sound like a vehicle approaching the house. still cools down quickly when turned on after a week or two. moisture does freeze near the lip, but not much at 0°C. Considering getting one at home as well. fantastic for travel. does stay cool a while if lid is kept close. I have not tested for how well.. — Slides well on the carpet for a hide-a-way fridge under my desk.Update: Think it’s been over a year, and still running very smooth. Cools down fast, even on economy mode. temperature seems accurate. upper edge ices up, but simple to break off (sharp, so watch it). I’ve used it mostly at home, but does well in travel. if its in the passenger seat, with the door so you can open it.. the fan faces the seat, but doesn’t actually look like it would damage the seat even for prolonged time, really. Very happy.. trying to decide which model to get next.

Literally, this wonderful, cost-effective, and thoroughly dependable unit saved my little girl’s life.We were faced with a HUGE dilemma when having to move over 1,000+ miles from Florida up to our new home in the Northeast. I’ll explain…Our daughter is a Type 1 insulin-dependent diabetic. Insulin is extremely temperature sensitive medication. If not being used with a 30 day period, insulin MUST be stored between roughly 34 degrees—45 degrees (approx.). When moving in a car across the US, it’s very tricky to be able to consistently temperature regulate anything, let alone a very sensitive life-saving med that is prone to denaturation. This wonderful Alpicool car fridge resolve all of my fears and issues about the insulin. It was a total champ through the entire 3-day car ride. It kept a consistent temp (give or take a degree C) the whole trip. I used a standard manual fridge thermometer and a digital thermometer with two sensors (for a total of three measuring devices) to ensure that the contents in the Alpicool retained a safe temperature within my given medication tolerances. The Alpicool performed perfectly! I was able to easily adjust the internal temp of the unit with the simple digital temp controls on the outside of the unit by a degree Celsius at a time. Opening the door of the unit allowed me to warm the inside when the unit was cooling a bit too much, and I’d also just raise the temp a bit, too.I was able to use the car plug while traveling, and the wall plug when we checked into our hotels at night. The cooler maintained the internal temp beautifully in the interim from car-to-hotel and vice-versa. Inside the car, the Alpicool fit beautifully on my front passenger seat, and it would’ve fit horizontally or vertically in my mid-sized Escape (just FYI). Also, the unit is very quiet, even when the compressor kicks in. Its important to know that you must make sure to keep the vents unblocked on both sides of the unit so the Alpicool can do it’s job. This is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I’d tell any family of a diabetic or person with diabetes to order this life-saving product. It’s important to note, the Alpicool was not just a one-time moving essential for our family: we will continue to enjoy the peace-of-mind that accompanies this purchase as it shields and protects our child’s life-saving insulin. I love that I can use this if the power goes out…or if there is a zombie apocalypse, lol. Seriously, the Alpicool is amazing!A million thanks to the manufacturer of thus product.

I spend a great deal of time in remote places lately and needed something that could refrigerate to an actual controlled temperature (my previous cooler was a Peltier design). I am very impressed with how well the C15 works and how efficient it is.I bought the C15 because I needed the smallest/shortest model. I totally voided my warranty by hacking it up to fit into a custom refrigerator setup in my camping truck. Basically I bought this only for its compressor and box. The upper trim/lid had to go. My setup basically doubled its cooling volume and it still works incredibly well. It cycles about every 20 minutes for about 5 minutes after getting down to set temperature. A drop from 68 degrees to 36 degrees takes less than 20 minutes. During that time power usage can hit about 55 watts but averages around 40. I can easily run this fridge 24 hours on my second auxiliary truck battery, more time than I will ever need for a nights camping. And realistically with my 80ah battery, I could probably run it for 3 days given that it only cycles for about 15 minutes per hour. (sloppy math, I know).I did make one small change to my hacked unit, I upgraded the cooling fan to a very nice high flow Noctua. The fan it came with was very loose and I think causes a startup “cluck” that is now gone with the new one.Operation is almost dead quiet. Would not bother sleeping people at all. This was a little surprising giving the price and since the compressor is probably not the best made out there. (certainly no Danfoss compressor!) Very happy about this. The phone app that connects via Bluetooth is awesome. Its basic but its does everything you need, this is a fridge after all. You can even lock the physical control pad with it. So if you have a pet or luggage that can bump the controls, just use the app instead and lock them. For me the bluetooth ability is pretty much needed. The fridge is embedded deep and far in the back of my truck. While I did mount the control pad for use, I have it in a position that requires the read gate to be opened. This was because the pad is rather bright at night. So having the app is perfect and also lets one monitor the actual temperature while driving, err.. I mean being a passenger up front. :)For an alternative to the much more expensive units out there, I can to recommend Alpicool enough. I am sure it will last only a few years (sorta typical with portable fridges) but knowing that makes me want to spend even less. I have had too many friends have their 4 to 5 year old Dometics/etc die.

This is a fabulous, well constructed, lightweight, convenient Refrigerator/Freezer. It’s easy to carry when empty and small enough to fit in many places inside a Car, SUV or Van. PROS: Solid, good sized unit that CAN and will freeze items. I used it recently on a 5 National Park tour of Southern UT. The reading on the lighted outside LED window is a ROUGH indicator of the temp inside. To really assess the temp you need an accurate thermometer to place inside. It’s QUIET, can be run on the car 12 volt outlet OR a 120V household (Motel) outlet with the supplied adaptor cord. We found it worked really well either way. Experimentation is the key. I needed Freezing temps so had it turned down very cold. (Even froze a half-liter water bottle solid.) It is important to leave a little space around the vented area for proper operation. (about 4 inches is good). The walls on the inside get very cold and the Frig works by cooling the air around all inside surfaces. I’d advise putting your drinks in cans on the bottom and possibly lunch items on top. The drinks would be VERY cold and the food would be more like a home Frig temp. It’s also attractive, i got several positive comments on the trip. It DOES have circuitry to protect your car battery and will warn you with 3 levels of alerts. Our Honda Odyssey turns OFF power to the 12 volt outlets when the Van is off but, the unit kept things cold for hours after that if kept closed. You won’t go wrong by spending the $$ on this little gem!! It saved my neck (literally) because I have to have a cold gel wrap around my neck for pain control as I have Cervical Dystonia. The Alpicool is a well-thought-out, well engineered product. Worth every penny!

Update May 2022. Running continuously, in a truck, left outside, year round, in S. Texas, for over 4 years. Has started to occasionally make fan noise like the bearings are starting to wear out. I’ve only heard it 2 or 3 times in last 4 months and turning it off and on again makes the noise stop. Otherwise, still working fine.Update Sept 2021. Running continuously for 3 1/2 years and still going strong.First, although the manufacturers box clearly shows that it must be transported “right side up”, amazon placed it upside-down in an amazon box. In order to read the shipping label, the manufacturers box had to be upside down. While this was a serious fail on the part of amazon fulfillment, it had nothing to do with the manufacturer or the quality of the compressor cooler.I contacted the manufacturer and they said that it should be alright as long as I let it sit, Right-Side-Up for two days before using it. I did so, plugged it in and it is getting cold. The manufacturer was quick to respond and provided very helpful information.Second,I also contacted the manufacturer about the specific cut off voltages for the three levels of the battery saver feature. They are as follows:Stage 12V input 24V inputH1 9.6V off;10.9V on 21.3V off;22.7V onH2 10.1V off;11.4V on 22.3V off;23.7V onH3 11.1V off;12.4V on 24.3V off;25.7V onThe documentation they sent also included instruction for making adjustments that I have not seen documented anywhere else. These special features are accessed by first turning off the cooler with the “soft off” button. The pressing and holding “Set” until “E1” appears. Press “Set” to move to each setting in turn, and press the up/down buttons to make adjustments. The special settings are:”E1″ Lowest temperature setting”E2″ Highest Temperature setting (I think there is a maximum 40 C spread between E1 and E2)”E3″ Temperature Return Setting”E4″ Soft start Setting and”E5″ Changing from Celsius to Fahrenheit (My favorite)Programming temperature compensation (in case the internal thermometer is not accurate) appears to also be possible.Third, innitial impressions:The owners manual says that the top can be opened either to the side or front to back. That is not true. It will only open to the side. The top is easily removed by lifting off when the hinge pins are at the correct angle. It is reasonably quiet.10 minutes after first plugging it in and setting to the default minimum temperature of -4 F (-20 C) it got to that temperature and stopped. It was empty at the time and started at 78F. So, assuming the internal thermometer is accurate, it dropped the temp 82F in 10 minutes. The plastic around where the power cord plugs in seems a little cheap and flimsy. It bowed noticeably with the force required to insert to power cord.I have given this 4 stars for now, because of the poor documentation and cheap feel of plastic where the power cord plugs in. After a little use, if it works as expected, I’ll probably increase this to 5 stars. To the manufacturer:Draining a battery to 11.1 volts (the highest battery protection setting) on a regular basis will quickly kill most batteries. Draining it to 9.6 volts (lowest battery protection setting) would damage any lead acid battery. Please add a battery saver setting with a relatively high voltage, like 12.5 volts. This would allow it to be plugged into a car and only run when the car was on. When hooked up to a solar system, it would allow it to run as a “dump load” only running when your battery is fully charged and you have nothing else to do with the power. Then the excess power could be used to make ice.Final note:There are several reviews here which report erratic operation or it staying on all the time. I suspect that some of those problems are related to the hidden settings getting accidentally set to random settings after piling stuff on top of the cooler.I upped my rating to 5 stars. After several weeks of use I’m very surprised by just how little power it uses. I have it on a 35AH battery that is charged by solar panels and the lowest voltage I have seen so far in the morning is 12.4.It does collect a little condensation and after a month it started to grow a little mold inside. It cleaned up easily with a paper towel. It does what it is supposed to do, it us very efficient and it was less than 1/2 the price of the competition. So 5 stars.Update: After 16 months is has 2 times (that I know of) gone into a “run away” cooling condition. When in that condition it would run the compressor, non-stop, until it was turned off or the battery was dead. The compressor gets VERY hot when this happens as it is not designed for a 100% duty cycle. Everything inside freezes solid. Some other reviews mention something like this. I suspect that it is a firmware issue, causing the internal computer to lock up. Unplugging it for a moment has always returned it to normal operation. Other than these two instances, it has worked flawlessly, non-stop, 24/7, for almost a year and a half. Because of the low price and fact that it has only done this twice (that I’m aware of), I am keeping my 5 star rating.I have also noticed that a few paper towels in the bottom to absorb the condensation helps to keep the mold down. Just change them once a month, when operated continuously. One other note: A 35 AH AGM battery, with a solar panel, will not keep it running for more than 2 cloudy days. 1 day if parked in a garage.

This is one compartment. You can use it as either a freezer or a refrigerator. I used it as a freezer for freezer packs and some ice cubes. It kept them frozen fairly well despite the power not being on all night and at times during the day. I used the 12v plug in vehicle. The first night outside temperature was 41 and next night 52. The third day temperature was 80 but driving most of the day. The ice cubes had melted a bit on the bottom by the time I got home. Obviously, a continuous power supply would be preferred but I thought it did pretty good given the circumstances.

I did some research on the size and I was able to mount this cooler between my 2 seats on my Ford transit Van. I have dual batteries in my van, so I can leave the cooler on 24/7. And I always have a cold place to put my lunch and drinks and everything else.It does not draw a lot of power. And that’s what I like most about it. And whatever you set the temperature at, it maintains throughout the day.

It was a month before I could unpack the Alpicool – broke my right arm and then to hospital with bowel problem.I was not sure how to set the temp that I wanted so I just did what seemed logical and let it run. Within a few hours the digital readout was in my intended parameters. By the next morning my ice cream was frozen hard. The unit has made no noise and produces little heat output for its efficient cooling. I put a refrig thermometer inside and the readout and the thermometer were acceptably close. So far: very satisfied!

I pre-freeze the items using the AC current adapter plug. Then I start the vehicle, plug in the 12v adapter and it conserves the freezing temperature throughout the day. I unplug it to stop draining the battery when I leave the vehicle for more than five minutes, and the unit heats up a few degrees, but not enough to matter. Plug it back in and it takes the temperature down as I had set it. Watch for the fan outlets. Make sure they are not blocked by other items in your boot. Give it some space to exhaust the hot air so that it can more efficiently keep the interior temperature down. One unexpected feature is that the freezer box is a bit < 1/2 the size of the unit. I can deal with that, but take a look at the interior dimensions before you buy so that you will not be disappointed with that feature. It's fine for my purposes.

This is the best purchase we have ever made. It sits between our seats in the middle row of our vehicle. It stays cold and holds a lot. My husband and I love it and highly recommend it.
