Edit 11/13/18The first one I bought walked off. I think my nephew picked it up and placed it somewhere. Oh well. It wasn’t working at the time because it loves to disconnect from the Wink 2 hub whenever it feels like it. So I bought another and had trouble pairing it (about an hour). Finally it paired and now this water sensor disconnects at random. No reason. I put a new battery in it for good measure. It ran for a few days the disconnected again. I’m going to scrap this sensor and try another brand. Good luck.I used this sensor in my basement by the main drain for the HVAC, water conditioning, water softener, water heater area. If anything in that room starts to leak it will go to the main drain in that area. I placed it nearby the drain. We have a well and it has a Goulds Aquavar pump controller. The pump controller has a jumper wire for enabling the pump to run. If the jumper wire is not there, the pump does not run.So I paired this leak sensor with the Wink 2 hub (easy). Then I paired a z-wave relay switch with the Wink 2. Then I created a robot in the Wink 2 so that if this water sensor detects water it will then tell the relay to break contact. Breaking contact in the relay then shuts down the well controller and, in turn, the well. The robot also sends me a notification that the well has been shut down. The setup works flawlessly. I have had no problems with the Centralite Water sensor at all. It’s also nice because it tells you the temperature. It would be easy to setup another Wink 2 robot to shut down the well pump if the temperature dropped to a certain degree. I have another robot for my Honeywell thermostat that does this, so I didn’t do it with this sensor.I plan on purchasing more for other possible wet locations upstairs by the kitchen sink/dishwasher area and by the washer and dryer area. It’s easy to justify the cost of these sensors and a Wink 2 hub when you figure out what the repairs would cost from a water leak going undetected for hours or days on end.

This is my first Centralite Door Sensor, but now my 6th purchase of a centralite product, having purchased 5 micro motion sensors. . I also have an Alexa enabled lock Smart (Amazon, Key, with . Cloud Cam, etc.) lock that can close with a set time, but of course until Yale (or someone) is able to monitor open and close with the strike plate, or something similar, using a no-so-smart predicate for autolock was getting rather annoying, so I decided to add this Door Sensor after considering others, but very pleased with the other Centralite sensors and stuck with them. Pairs with the Alexa Zigbee enabled Hub quickly and now I can set a smarter routines with the lock, motion from the cloud cam, etc. Some of the other sensors are paired with a SmartThings v3 Hub, and all have been responsive. I just retired a Wink v1 Hub, and while it paired quickly, the response time was generally unacceptable (though I don’t know if that was because it was part of a Routine and the bottleneck was necessarily the Hub, or Alexa to Wink connection). I have well over a hundred Zigbee devices in the house, so that protocol is the one I lean towards. Good Product and Centralite products have been great in general. Definitely would recommend!

As long as you have Amazon products, this product will fit perfectly in your new smart home. The requirements are simple; Echo Plus or Echo Show Generation 2. Thats it. When initially opening the box and reading the instructions I was skeptical… you “pull out a battery tab and BOOM connected”… welp.. I pulled the tab.. clicked the button on the side till it was blinking blue and low and behold the indicator beeps green for connected. I asked Alexa to discover devices and there it was. No 3rd party app… no $100 hubs… just the most important piece, the echo app. Now to answer a few questions..Can this work with Phillips Hue?A: Yes! But through the Alexa app. It connects to ANY smart bulb, smart plug, or device you can think of using routines. Is this device practical?A: Absolutely. I have been working in smart home since the echo was launched.. this product couldn’t be easier to use. So far I’m in love with it but we will see how long it will last.Do you need a hub to make this work?A: As long as you’re connecting it to a zigbee hub this will connect and work properly. I would highly recommend saving your money and using it towards an Amazon Echo Plus or Echo Show 2. If you are a Google user I would switch over if you are looking for simplicity and completeness. Can this act as a security motion sensor?A: Yeah, the Routines in the Alexa app really open up the different possibilities necessary to turn lights on to even triggering music (or sirens lol) to play when motion is detected. It integrates very well with Amazon Guard and using Routines you can even have it notify you when the motion occurs in real time. Can this give me temperature readings?A: YES! This is an added bonus with this product that I love. Not only that, but you can create routines at certain temperatures in a room! Amazon really thought of everything, I’m truly surprised I just found out about these but I just bought 2 more for my house. Expect me to buy a bunch more in the future to compliment my Nest Thermostat.

CentraLite is one of the best Zigbee manufacturers in my opinion, making both their own products like in this listing as well as being the OEM behind some cult favorites like the Iris v2 sensors, some generations (not the newer ones) of SmartThings sensors, and others. Most of those are no longer readily available, but these are, and if you liked those, you’ll like these, too.I have the motion sensor, door sensor, and smart plug (both the square and rectangular ones), and all are great! I’m getting over a year of battery life on the sensors so far using the coin cell batteries they take (I thought I’d mind this more compared to some of their whitelabel products that took CR2 cells instead, where I got multiple years of battery life, but the capacity really isn’t that different, and I suspect these will still come close given the history). Being standard Zigbee, they are compatible with a variety of hubs; I’ve used them on SmartThings (in the “classic” days), Home Assistant (ZHA), and various models of Hubitat (my current hub).Every once in a while, you can find them on sale for less than their usual price, whether here or directly from Ezlo, their new “owner” (these devices were hard to find for a while when the company’s status was in question). But at any price, they are great devices and among my favorite Zigbee products due to their well-behaved nature and reliability.

I read many of the reviews on here and felt compelled to write my own review. My experience with Centralite sensors has been great. I have door sensors, motion sensors, and this temperature/humidity sensor. I’ve had no issues whatsoever. But, for those who are new to Zigbee device, it’s important to understand a few thing.First, as with any wireless technology it is important to understand the environment in which they operate. Zigbee shares the same frequency as the older WiFi band. (2.4GHz) So, if the environment happens to have a WiFi band (Channel Overlap) that is shared with the Zigbee channel, count on problems. Also, the same is true for Hue devices that are in the general area. Hue uses Zigbee. If the Hue happens to use the same Zigbee channel, expect problems. And finally, wireless is subject to the same physics as Wifi. Distance, solid objects, etc. can and will impact the wireless communication between devices. My hunch is that many with issues are implementing these in a non-optimized Zigbee environment. (Check for and resolve channel overlap with Hue/other Zigbee hubs, 2.4GHz WiFi. Build the Zigbee mesh in such a way that powered Zigbee devices with repeater capabilities can repeat the signal to fringe devices.) It could be that the Centralite devices do not broadcast as strong a signal as other devices, which could also explain some of the issues noted.I have 49 Zigbee devices in a two-story home and have not had issues. It wasn’t always that way. I had to do a lot of reading to understand my environment fully. Occasionally I will have issues with one device or another, but they clear quickly–and have never been the Centralite devices.

I was looking for a sensor to automatically turn on my bathroom fans when humidity reached a certain level. I had not heard of this brand but the advertised 2 year battery life and $30 price were enough to get me to try it. It works perfectly through SmartThings to trigger the bath fan to run for an hour once humidity goes above the threshold I set. I have had the first one for a month and battery still reads 100%. I saw a bad review on battery life and I am wondering if they don’t have any zigbee repeaters and a long distance between the device and their hub. I have Phillips hue bulbs all over that act as repeaters so wondering if that is helping with my connectivity and battery life. Anyways, highly recommend and I bought more and will probably buy the water sensors too.

I use these in conjunction with my Hubitat home automation system.I have purchased these in the past and have been very happy with the results I’ve gotten with them.Battery life is exceptional, I get about a year on either the lithium batteries or rechargeable batteries. While the rechargeables do cost a bit more up front I hate throwing batteries away. These sensors work flawlessly with either. Not only would I buy these again, but I already have!

Just received these so I can’t yet speak for their durability, but I can help with connecting to a Wink Hub 2; here is what I had to do:1) Wink App >> Add to Wink >> Lighting >> Outlets >> Smart Appliance Module (Centralite)2) Plug the new Smart Outlet into an outlet CLOSE to your wink hub (within 6′)3) Click Next, Next, Connect Now4) Watch the lights on the Smart Outlet, when it starts blinking a fast blue-green-red then press the button on the side of the Smart Outlet5) If the Smart Outlet light goes to a solid blue, then it is connected EVEN IF THE WINK APP WIZARD DOESN’T FINISH (it might say Trouble Finding Device, even though it found it)6) Exit out of the Add Device Wizard7) Look for a new item under Lights+Power called Light Bulb, which will probably show lit8) Press the new icon on and off. You should see the Smart Outlet LED change and hear it click9) Edit the icon name as you desire10) Now you can move your smart outlet to where ever you need to put it (as long as it’s in range of your system, of course)I found it was fast and easy to add the outlets following the steps above. Takes all of two minutes if that.

UPDATE: Just bought a 2nd contact sensor to use it like a temperature sensor. Connected easily and works reliably from 1 room away (no hub, just zigbee connection to my Echo Plus). It can be used in an Alexa routine to trigger other smart devices if the temperature reaches XX. Very happy with it so far. Definitely recommend this sensor over others I found on Amazon. The 1st one is still working perfectly too. Not a battery hog at all. Overall pretty happy with their reliability.I have an Echo Plus (with the built-in zigbee hub). This door sensor works with it right out of the box as advertised. No extra hub required. Easy to connect using the Alexa app on iPhone. I can set up Alexa routines to notify/track when the sensor is opened/closed. I can use the temperature sensor to trigger similar Alexa routines (but I don’t really use the temp for anything). Overall, very happy after ~1 month of use. Mine is mounted ~25-30 feet away from the Echo Plus inside the garage. There are 2 walls in between. Connection is perfect. I’ve tried it 50-55 feet away too with no signal issues. No comment on battery life yet.

These are Zigbee temperature sensors, and I was able to install all four of them in my Hubitat hub within 15 minutes without any issue whatsoever. I have since checked the accuracy of the units and their calibration is within +/- 1 degree F and the humidity +/- 2 percent for typical room temperatures, which was within specs. The units are a little slow in responding to temperature and humidity change, not surprisingly since the sensors sit inside of a plastic case which restricts air flow somewhat. However, for me this isn’t a problem since I’m using them to monitor room temperature for my HVAC system and I’m seeing accurate readings within 5 minutes or so after a temperature change occurs.
