Looking for a new easy to use kettle, I across a very nice and very easy to use Chefman. Having used other Chefman products, I trusted the label. About a week later, i got an Amazon email showing this model. It is a bit more expensive; however, it has a couple of additional features, including a “keep warm” function. So, I traded up. Because of added features, there is a very small learning curve, but “keep warm” is worth it. Various heating options are available for the different kinds of tea to be brewed. Tea can be brewed in the cup or in the pot using the included infuser. It heats fast, and the water/tea is kept warm for an hour. For a refill during that period, the kept warm water/tea is hot in a hurry. I love it. Easy to use, and easy to clean.Should you need total simplicity for whatever reason, buy its Chefman brother. With either one, you’ve got a winner.

This is the second Chefman electric kettle I have owned. The first one (different model) failed after several years of multiple daily uses. I have had this one just over 3 years and recently noticed it no longer keeps the water warm. I will be purchasing this model again because I can control the exact temperature ( we like 180 degrees), can clean the pot easily, can see the water and it is attractive on the counter. I also like that the temperature control is easy to read and not on the handle. I believe we got our money’s worth for this hard working kettle that was used multiple times a day. A bit of discoloration at the bottom of the kettle has been noticed, but does not affect the taste, smell or performance of the kettle. I believe that is to be expected from these type of devices.

Update 11/26/23I still love this kettle. I use it every day for French press coffee, tea, boiling water for making Repashi gel fish food, making jello, boiling water to sanitize kitchen sponge and hand crocheted dish rags made my my husbands auntie years ago. Great for any hot or boiled water I need. How did I live without this for so long? The auto settings and temp readout are the greatest thing. The auto hold temp is wonderful for me since I turn it on then do other things so don’t hear the beep to know it is done. As for the beep it is great too. Not too loud. Not annoying at all and I strongly dislike things beeping at me. It just says I’m up to the temp you want then it quietly waits for you while keeping your water hot. If I forget or get distracted it turns off automatically. As for scale I have read other reviews that people were frustrated that it got mineral spots on the stainless bottom inside. Well, we have a well haha. Our community is on the edge of a batholith, a long extinct volcano. All of the well water here is liquid rock. It doesn’t pay to buy an expensive coffee maker because they will get scaled up until they don’t work any more, then you throw the old one out and get another. This is one of the reasons I use a French press. You should see the inside of my 20 year old stainless tea kettle I use on the stove. Even with scrubbing and vinegar soaks it is white inside. The clear carafe on this electric kettle is wonderful for hard water because I can see the scale. I never empty the boiled water all the way to make it easier to clean. I let it cool then use the dish scrub brush to get the loose scale before I rinse and fill for the next pot. That means I work on the scale every or every other day. I did get some commercial de-scaler I will try for the tougher scale. Haven’t tried that yet. Scale is just minerals so not harmful in any way and since the element isn’t in contact with the water this kettle will far outlast any conventional coffee maker or espresso machine. Uggh. I have one of those I need to descale. As for the reviewers that were frustrated with the lid loosing it’s tightness I found it easier to take off the tea strainer and just use the tea strainer lid. Since it is a turn lock it will work much longer than a seal that gets used at least daily. I have no problem filling or cleaning without taking the whole lid off. If I need to get in there to scrub with a sponge or something I can take the whole lid off but so far I haven’t needed to do that. Have I said that I love this kettle?Original review: I love this already and I only set it up this morning. I have used electric kettles before. None of them holds a candle to this one. I love that I can see the water level and watch it working.I love coffee and tea. I told my husband who doesn’t like hot drinks that it will heat the water for his instant potatoes and instant soup we sometimes use in the winter.I love the different programmed settings for french press, tea, etc. Before I would just microwave or boil water for the french press. Today I used this kettle and brewed my coffee with water that was heated on the french press setting. I used the keep warm timer to time my brewing before pressing so I didn’t have to look at the clock or set a timer It was just Folgers since I didn’t want to grind beans. The coffee was so smooth and tasted great. Better than the same in the coffee maker. I can’t wait to use the kettle with the infuser for my loose tea.I love the stay cool grippy handle and the way the tea infuser can be removed without taking the whole top off. This kettle is so well designed to be easy to use and functional.Good thing fall is almost here. I will love using this kettle every time I need hot water. I plan on getting one for my sister for Christmas. I know she will love it as much as I do.

I own the $300 Breville Tea kettle and bought this as a knock around unit. I was so impressed with the design and the features that this is now my GO TO for a kettle. I even bought one for my aunt.First of all, for one fifth the cost, it has nearly every feature of the Breville unit except for the automatic basket. The beautiful LED display resembles the Breville with all the tea types staged to a preset. It has a customizable setting for adjustable temperature and steep times. It displays the temperature and times for steeping and warming. It has a delay setting to make this turn on at a later time. What makes this unit better than most other units is the STEEP feature. Whether you steep loose tea in the pot or use a bag in a cup with boiling water, the STEEP feature shows the time at STEEP so you know when it’s time to remove the loose tea basket OR your tea bag from a cup if you’re only heating water. After the STEEP mode, it automatically goes into WARMING mode for two hours. The STEEP feature is universal and it may be easily overridden if you like. I thought this feature was going to be a waste of time but now I see how invaluable it is. Time of steeping is just as critical as temperature. For the first time my green and white teas are no longer bitter. This is the only tea maker in this price range that focuses on both. You will love the quality of the design, build and versatility with this product unlike any other far above its price class.

Got this for an elderly friend with very bad eyesight. But he can see the blue halo light very well. Simple design and he’s very pleased with it. Gets used very day.

Overall – Love it! It was so hard for me to find a kettle with an auto start option. I do French press in the morning and there are so many coffee makers out there where you can program it to start at a specific time, but kettles with a timer are so much harder to find. It’s so nice being able to set the timer, and wake up ready to brew coffee. It’s such a small thing but it really helps cut down the time in the morning. Now, other pro’s and cons:Keep warm function: I wasn’t sure if I would like the function for it to keep at boiling temperature for an hour, but actually it is really nice while working from home. I can set it get preoccupied with something at work, and come back 40 minutes later and it’s ready to go. My previous kettle had a keep warm function but it wouldn’t keep it at a specific temperature, it was literally warm so that you could reboil it faster. I prefer this one.Lid – Once or twice, I’ve had the lid come off while I’m pouring hot water. I’m careful to make sure I’m holding the lid securely while I pour now, just like you might for a regular teapot, but I feel like for something boiling hot this should be secured better. It’s not so frequent that I would count it as a serious safety issue. It was important to me to have a kettle with a large lid so I could fill and clean it easily, so for me, the pros outweigh the cons here.Timer – I was just saying how much I like the timer function. However, having to set it by the number of hours is a little awkward because I have to do the math to estimate when I’ll need it to start the next morning. It would be nice if it had a clock built in.Smell – there is definitely a plastic-ey smell when you first open the product and use it. It probably lasted a week or two. I even followed the provided instructions to boil vinegar and baking soda to get rid of the smell. I just ignored it and it went away eventually, although it took longer than I would have liked. If I was actually preparing tea in the kettle itself, it might have gone away faster, but I only use it for boiling water.Temperature control – This was important to me since I like drinking hot water. The temperature goes down to 104 degrees Fahrenheit, in case you were wondering.I’ve had this for 3-4 months now and have had no durability issues.

We had an earlier model which died after a few years. this is better than our old one.Easy to use. Good speed. We drip our coffee with 195 degree water. It has a lid on it that you have to be a little careful about. Make sure the inside piece of the lid is closed well.Their one mistake is it beeps too much. It beeps every TWO seconds when it has arrived at the desired temperature and doesn’t stop until you turn off the heat or move the pot off the base. This was stupid. Every every 30-60 seconds might have been fine.Still very happy. It was the right purchase.
