I bought this air conditioner to replace a two year old LG air conditioner that cost more than this. It cooled down the house…but it was like having a lawn mower in the room. It was so noisy I couldn’t stand having it on and noise doesn’t usually bother me. I got rid of the LG and bought this…It was so easy to install…it looks great…I can turn it on and off with WIFI on my phone, so by the time I arrive home the house is cool…It is whisper quiet and it gets cold. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase….so happy with this air conditioner.

Excellent window air conditioner all around. All summer we have been using this Frigidaire. Cooling and silence are superb. The design looks high-quality.Silence is similar to the split systems we have used before. Maybe the splits were a bit louder at higher frequencies and a bit quieter at very low frequencies. There are a few “silent” window air conditioners on the market now from newer brands in the market. Since we have had good prior experiences with Frigidaire, we chose Frigidaire again. We received just the basic remote control but frankly it works fine. There is an app for mobile phones too.Tip – we used some clear packing tape around the window and over the baffles to reduce outside sound and bugs even more. If you try this, make sure any tape won’t ruin the finish/windows.Frigidaire GHWQ083WC1 8000btu window AC

COLD – Sure seems cold enough. I can’t stand in front of it very long. It’s like sitting in a freezer with the fan pointed at me.SWING – only goes up and down. I was actually hoping for side to sideQUIET – Right in front of it it sounds like wind. Can’t hear it down the hallway or in the bedroom at the other end of a 44×24 split level house. I’d say very very quiet. It does make a very distant almost imperceptible rumble when the compressor starts up, like a truck starting up the road way off in the distance. You forget it’s there in the same roomWEIGHT – same weight as a little 6000btu unit we own, a little over 50lbsWIFI – Need Android 8.0. Unfortunately doesn’t work for me and I’m not upgrading my phone so I may return the unit. That was a big part of what sold me on it.CONTROLS – Everything seems to work as described except we’ll probably never use the timerGAPS – There were a couple of strange gaps between the wings and the bottom of the casing that I had to plug with foam because you could literally see outside thru them. No biggie. We’ve run it a couple of days and so far and I was very pleased. Not sure if it would take care of our whole house in 90 degree temps but didn’t really expect it to do that, in the 80’s it did fine. You all would know that better than me.I would say if you don’t care about the wifi controls or the fact that it is a bit more expensive, it’s a really nice machine7/28 Post Note: I’ve decided the connectivity isn’t really that important to us. Gonna keep it. I love this thing. It’s so quiet. I did get a little little 5000btu unit for the other end of the house and I couldn’t be more pleased. (I really should have waited though but got it brand new for $75 at a silent auction – couldn’t pass it up since I was thinking about it anyway)

I bought this for a bedroom window. As such, noise level was paramount. This unit is reportedly super-quiet. The unit has 3 fan settings, and on the lowest setting, it is REALLY quiet. One might make a case that on the high fan setting, the fan is not as strong as one might like. I found I kept the unit in its “economy” mode and it worked well for me. The unit has a touch panel for all the controls, in addition to a remote (which I don’t use). The control panel does light up when being used, but when not in use, it turns off the lights. Because the indications as to what/where the controls are are printed on the surface of the control panel, that makes it hard to use in the dark — that is, if you get up in the middle of the night to turn it up/down or off, you’re working blind. It initially starts in “eco” mode by default. I suppose it’s a little annoying that the unit doesn’t remember the settings from the last time it was turned on. Since I don’t need to run it every day, it means a few extra taps on the front panel to get it to the settings I want. It works great keeping the bedroom (20′ x 10′) cool, and again, it’s easy to sleep with this unit on. It also helps cool beyond the bedroom so I can cool my house with two similar sized units. There is also a “swing” mode which in theory redirects the cool air up and down. It’s pretty useless, and doesn’t “sweep” across a large range. Some designer didn’t quite think that part through. The unit also has WiFi connectivity, but I have no need for that, so I didn’t use that at all. There was some assembly required. Nothing too difficult, though the instructions are rather poor in spots. There is a bar which goes across the top which one must screw on, and then the side accordion panels must be installed on the unit. Once that’s done, it’s pretty much like installing any other window air conditioner. Considering the age of the unit this was replacing, I’m sure it’s more energy efficient.I liked the unit so much, I ordered another one when they became available. With the wicked heat this summer, these were hard to come by. Unfortunately, the second unit came with a damaged front panel. Half the touch buttons didn’t work, so one couldn’t control it. It did respond to the remote, so I did use the remote to get it to work. Additionally, there was something grinding on / in the fan so it sounded like there was sand in it. However, it was so loud, one couldn’t watch TV in the same room with it. It was a major disappointment. It had to go back.Amazon was great regarding the return. They offered to give me a partial refund if I kept the unit, but considering all the issues and the racket it made when operating, I declined that. The box the unit came in was two pieces: a bottom piece and a second piece which was 4 sides and a top, and the two pieces were held together with plastic straps wrapped around the whole thing, so there was no way to “put it back in the box” for return. The Amazon rep I worked with to return the unit (via chat window) was great. She walked me through the return process. I had to use a special shipper to return it as it was obviously large and had no box. I needed to fill out the shipper’s forms to set up a pickup. The Amazon rep emailed me a link to the forms, and walked me through filling it out. It was super easy. Then, I just disassembled what I had assembled, and used packing tape to attach the pieces to the unit. A few days later, the shipper came and took it away. Good customer service, Amazon. Thanks. While the second unit was a disappointment, I intend to get another one of these units early next summer before the summer rush puts them out of stock because when these units are working properly, they’re great.

I had a working AC unit (10k) but it was so incredibly loud I couldn’t make a phone call or have a work meeting with it on and it was massive pain to store and install it seasonally due to the weight. So getting this 12k unit that’s smaller, lighter, infinitely quieter and cools amazingly was the best decision ever. I’ve had it for three months now and couldn’t be happier. Even the outdoor condensation doesn’t really happen until the hottest of days. I searched forever, but feel vindicated as this has turned out to be the perfect AC for my 400/500 square foot space I needed it for. If you’re on the fence, this is the one to get.Only cons: remote is a blocky one that is not pictured for some odd reason and it seems backwards to me to press left to increase and right to decrease fan speed, but I’m almost used to it. For its quiet running, it will vibrate the window/wall to a solid degree at times. You feel it more than hear it unless something on the wall nearby rattles.

I’ve had this AC for a month, and it has been great. Cools fast, super quiet. Handsome design. Remote and app work well. Only complaint is that the ability to direct the air vent is very limited. And the controls on the machine itself, which light up when touched, are a bit hard to see. So I use the remote. Or at night, or when I’m in another room or away from home, I use the iPhone app. The sleep program, which gradually raises the target temperature overnight, seems like a smart idea.

I am the Most Finicky person when it comes to having a Quiet Air Conditioner. I have been researching all different brands, I compare not only the Decibel rating, I also search the total specs on each A/C and that includes the CFM ( Cubic Feet per Minute ) that the inside Blower is rated at each speed. If you want Quiet it Certainly has to be 200 CFM and below and this A/C certainly is well below that level.High speed is 203 CFM, Medium is 141 CFM, and Low is 112 CFM, which is Outstanding for a Quiet A/C.I also could not believe how Quiet the Compressor is on this Inverter A/C, you can barely hear it!!!The outside Fan and inside Blower are two different Electric Motors, not connected on the same shaft as older A/C units. You can not hear the Compressor over the outside fan Motor, it’s that Quiet!!When I received this A/C, I took it out of the box and plugged it in Immediately and it Blew me Away!!!It is Quieter then any A/C I’ve ever heard, so picture this, it’s on the floor plugged in and I’m listening to both inside Blower, Outside Fan and compressor all at once, and it’s Still Quieter then any A/C I’ve ever owned or repaired. Yes, I used to repair A/C, I’m retired.I did read the reviews, I don’t understand some reviews with the Panel issues, it is a “Touch” screen panel, no buttons to press, just an easy touch of your finger. The A/C also came with a Different remote then pictured, it’s a typical remote with buttons, I will up load an Image at a later time. But, In the meantime I was so Impressed over this Inverter A/C, I ordered 4 more!!! Yes, 4.I’ve purchased Many A/C’s over the years, never this Quiet!!!Sorry, and it also looks Fantastic too!!!Frigidaire did an Outstanding Job!!!

I remember growing up in upstate NY and in our house there were Frigidaire products everywhere! As I grew older other appliances took room and Frigidaire was all but forgotten. Well now, let’s revisit these good ole quality build products again. This Ac so far is amazing. A real work of art! Went with this over others not just because I knew it was a quality product, but, all the positive reviews I read. The remote is simple and easy to use, the app is even easier…Had it up and running on my phone within minutes. the physical install was also far easier than some of those old ac’s that were extremely heavy, bulky and cumbersome! Now the icing on the cake….Sooooooo quiet! This product checks all the boxes for me and hopefully for yourself! Read reviews, compare products and see for yourself. In my mind Frigidaire takes first prize. Thank you Frigidaire.

liked that The AC was quite, and uses very little power, (compared to other ACs). I use it in my Trailer. according to my watt meter the AC uses 650 watts, the surge may be more. but as it gets to temp, the draw is 100 watt. Worth taking the rear window out to put the AC in.
