I studied and researched and tried several others, BUT this machine is easy to use, good quality, and priced right! A great value IMHO! At this price, if it stops working, I will just buy another one. It is very sharp looking and it seems to be of good quality, in comparison to others that are much more expensive. Thank you Amazon and Hamilton Beach!

I purchased my original identical unit in 2015 and it is still going strong 7 years later. My mom’s ancient rival crock pot died recently and she had replaced it with a new crock pot brand one from a local big box store. She complained that all of her recipes no longer worked as everything was cooking way too hot/fast, even on low. I bought her one of these and she is now happy again as things are back to how they were. An 8 hour on low roast recipe can go the full time and be at that 190 mark at the end with most of the time spent in the sweet spot. Because I remember mine giving off quite a smell when it was new, I washed this new one out thoroughly and then ran three batches of just water filled a little over halfway up. It did give off some smell from the manufacturing oil and maybe the silicone for the first two batches but then stopped completely after that. The high setting test resulted in a reading of 210 at the end of 4 hours and the low test came out to 195 at the end of 8. This doesn’t just blast the temperature right away and boil the whole time like some of the competing brands have started doing I guess for safety reasons. I like that this unit still comes with a heavy removable crock which makes cleanup easy. I like the port hole in the lid as that allows me to use my accurate temperature probe while cooking larger cuts of meat like pork shoulder or roast. I recommend the chef alarm by thermoworks. I have never used the built in probe so I can’t speak to that. The locking lid feature seems a bit flimsy to me but it has worked the couple times I used it. Remember not to store the unit or cook with the lid locked. It is only for transport. The silicone ring on the lid starts off pretty tacky and can be tricky to seat. After the first couple times using it though, that wears off and works great, creating a nice seal. The biggest annoyance for me is the beeps when turning it on or adjusting settings is a bit obnoxious and can’t be disabled. Overall though, it cooks like a crock pot should (low and slow) and has held up so I recommend this one!

This cooker is great for big cuts of meat, it takes the guess work out on whether or not the meat is throughly cooked or not. Everything works great and I do chicken, ham, and roast in this cooker.

A few months ago, we decided to save money by cooking our own food. (We had been eating Trader Joe’s frozen meals and going out and that gets expensive very quickly.) Thing is, neither my husband nor I love cooking all that much. So I guess it comes as no surprise that I am terrible at it. However, I did come across an awesome blog called a year of slow cooking that presented me with a bunch of easy-to-make recipes in very little time. (Since then I have found other blogs with other recipes: Get Crocked and 365 days of slow cooking for example but a year of slow cooking is still my favorite.) The recipe problem solved, I started cooking using my small, old, and very basic crockpot. And that crockpot was doable but some recipes call for cooking on low for 9 hours; others for 6 and really all I want is to throw the ingredients into the crockpot and forget about it.My old basic crockpot didn’t let me do that. The Hamilton Beach, on the other hand does. And it is so easy to use! I hate electronics (ask my husband) but I can operate this crockpot with ease. You just press the on button (the red circle on the left) then select the time by pushing the up/down arrows on the right, press enter, select the heat setting press enter and you’re done. Once it’s finished, it goes to Warm setting so your food doesn’t spoil. This means that if you set it on a Friday night and want to sleep in Saturday morning, you can. You really don’t have to worry about getting up just to turn off the crockpot. If you are cooking a full chicken or something as big as that you can use the thermometer probe and set your own temperature you want maintained to make sure that meat is cooked properly. It also has one of those lids that locks down with simple lever clamps at each end so now I can be one of “those” people who takes up the office kitchen because we are having a potluck. The lid does have a rubber seal but do be sure to keep it upright because there are small vent holes and a hole for the probe to be inserted through the glass lid.All in all, this really is a set it and forget it crockpot (as advertised). It is also worth noting (because this has been in the news) that Healing Gourmet (a food safety site) lists Hamilton as one of the ten brands to look for when choosing a crockpot and that wirecutter (a site that reviews the gadgets in our lives) tells us that this crockpot “outperformed much more expensive models.” In a couple of negative reviews I have seen, there were complaints about the glass breaking. The instructions say to only clamp down the lid when transporting food. My husband says that there is a good chance that tightening the lid while cooking would put extra stress on the glass making it more likely to break/shatter. So bear this in mind.I admit I haven’t tried those more expensive models (the whole point of using a crockpot to begin with was to save money) but I have to admit I am a little in love with this crockpot and highly recommend it.

Use a lot since buying a few months ago. Made chili, lasagna soup, spaghetti sauce. Use on Medium or High since I always am last minute and cook for 2-4 hours. Haven’t used thermometer yet but works great. Stir occasionally if you use on high.

I decided to purchase a new crockpot since the old one lettering wore off and played a guessing game at what temperature. This new Hamilton Beach is such a joy to cook with a lot more options and the probe is so handy in cooking roasts. My first try with the probe produced a perfectly cooked pork loin, and a beef roast. Having the probe is a game changes for perfectly cooked meat. You are able to choose the temperature you want for your meat. The program and manual setting are so handy for choosing your slow cooker times and temperature. High, low, warm, and after cooking complete it automatically goes to warm. So happy with this purchase.

I had donated all of my old crockpots, lol, but kept seeing recipes I wanted to make, so decided to get a new one. This one is great. I especially like the rubber piece lining the inside rim of the cover. It keeps the lid from bouncing, clicking, making noise when liquid is boiling for hours on end.I removed the wire pieces for the lid lock holder – I’ll never transport this full of food. They got in the way a little bit when putting the glass cover on and off, so just took them off. And the booklet says not to cook with the lid locked down, so there is no use for them except for transport.Yes, I have an instapot pressure cooker and thought I’d never use a crock pot again… but I do love getting up in the morning (when I have lots of energy and motivation), making a recipe in the crock pot, leaving it for hours (house smells great), then enjoying a delicious meal at the end of the day. Recommend this one! It’s a beaut.BTW, I hand wash the lid/cover because of that rubber rim. No big deal, just a few swipes with a soapy sponge. And then use dishwasher for ceramic part.

I was in need of a crock pot upgrade after my old Black & Decker kept overcooking my brisket on low. I was surprised with how affordable this one was! This crockpot is a game changer. I love how you can set the cook to either temperature (and use the included temp gun) or time and also tell it what to do once it reaches either. Needless to say, my next crockpot brisket tacos were not overcooked and perfectly tender with rendered fat!

My first trial was a disaster. I got this recipe for lamen, but it ended up being a big mashed-noddle mess. It cooked too long. My bad! I got the wrong noodles for the recipe. After that I tried many different dishes – loved them all! Got many recipes at Pinterest. It keeps the food warm, the control is user-friendly. I’m very satisfied!
