Edit June 2021: the replacement filter has arrived and is worming great.If you are reading this in the future and I have not come back to update this review, then that means it’s still working great because I’ll definitely update this if anything changes.I appreciate that this is a pretty new company. I considered listing only 3 or 4 stars because it took so long between breaking and customer support.If I were purchasing again, I might still go with a more established company for that reason because I’ve realized that any appliance with a fan inside it running constantly has an elevated likelihood of breaking.That being said, I really really like this specific model.1). It is more fashionable than any other air filters except those top of the line “mid-century contemporary” style ones.2) very large air intake area (important feature)3) vertical height keeps it from having too big a floor footprint, and means you can set it up on a desk or even on a deep shelf if you turn it around (turn it to keep the air-intake from being blocked).4) No Ion setting is good (Consumer Reports says the now-popular Ion setting on premium air filters at best wastes electricity while doing nothing, and at worst is making the air toxic).5) Easy-to-read air quality sensor helps me figure out when I should close the window or the door to my bedroom6) large air intake area and magnetic latch makes it extremely easy to clean hair and dust off the outside of the filter.Like most people, I find that tend to clean things in direct proportion to how easy they are to clean. Being able to easily keep the air intake clean means the filter will run more efficiently, more effectively, and last longer.7) it’s much cheaper than an equivalently powerful air filter from one of the big established brands.All together, that’s why it gets 5 stars now. I’m going to give the company the benefit of the doubt on quality control and customer support because their design team is so good and they did make it right eventually.______EDIT May 2021: the company has reached out to me to replace my broken unit. If it arrives and works well, then that certainly changes my opinion. I will update this review if/when it arrives and I’ve had the chance to test it.______________purchased in September 2019 but didn’t get around to setting up until November because the air quality in my city had finally improved.The good: I like the design aesthetically and functionally.It’s obviously large, but all purifiers in its category are large. It’s a nice height and not too deep, and the tall air-intake area seems more effective than some other similar products that try to draw in air from a smaller space.I knew from the decibel rating that it would be on the loud side when operating at full strength, but I live in a big city with plenty of noise so I considered that a plus. Extra white noise is good for me!The problems began after only a month or so of use. I would sometimes hear this slight whining noise like a misaligned fan weighted wrong. If I changed the speeds, it would go away so I didn’t think much of that.Big mistake. I should have returned it right away, because that type of problem only gets worse. I can now no longer run it at any speed without the sound being really loud (even over the air sound of the fan itself). I expect it will break entirely soon if I keep running it– but I’ve stopped running it both because the sound is so annoying and because it’s electricity draw is much higher than its rating. Perhaps my model is not running at ideal efficiency because of the misalignment, I don’t know. But it’s taking nearly as much electricity as my refrigerator does to run.(I have checked the filter plenty of times and do not ever let it get clogged with extra dust. I have not moved it or knocked it over. I have tried leveling it. Etc. This is a quality control issue or a design issue)I will probably have to throw it away rather than purchase a replacement filter, which is quite a bit of cash to have wasted.I may try to get a replacement from the manufacturer, but not sure how much hassle that will be.Next time I’ll just go with a more established brand for a bit more money. Cheaper in the long-run to get some life out of an appliance.

I live California, where there’s many wild fires every year and a significant amount of dust from the Santa Ana winds. I also have a cat that sheds and a fiancee with allergies. So, I thought to invest in an air purifier. After shopping around a little, I stumbled upon Himox. They had many great reviews, so we bought one for the living room. After loving it, we bought another for the bedroom. Sure, this was overkill according to the Himox recommended room size directions, but we have experienced the BEST air quality and a significant reduction in cat hair since doing so. Helps reduce the amount of dust on horizontal surfaces as well. After about a year, one of the machines started to annoyingly squeak with every rotation of the fan blade. We replace the filters and clean according to the directions, so I reached out to customer service and they kindly replaced the entire machine. Great customer support and an excellent product. Would absolutely recommend!!

I have a large room and 2 big dogs I like the difference it makes in dust and hair. Very quiet easy to upload app and control from anywhere.

We have a 1600sq ft home with two large dogs and two daughters. Our home has wood floors throughout and the dust, dander, and pollen gets stirred up easily. These Himox HO-4 filters have done a fantastic job of taking the dust, dander, pollen and mold spores out of the air. As a result, I hear far less sneezes coming from my family members and I am am sleeping far better at night with less congestion and less allergy related issues. Sleep mode is a nice feature, the system is already very quiet, but sleep mode takes it to another level. These purifiers are well worth the investment and I would highly recommend them for your home.******Update: I just had to change out a filter (first change) and was extremely impressed with what the air filter pulled from the air. I included a few pictures of the filter (above). By seeing this, it has just confirmed that I made a really good purchase buying two Himox-HO4 air purifiers. I’m considering buying a third.PS- Changing out the filter and resetting the machine was quite easy. I unplugged the purifier, opened the back door, pulled out the old filter with pull tab provided. I then wiped down the machine with clean, damp cloth, I then put a new filter in after machine dried off. Finally, I plugged the purifier back in to the electric outlet and held down the blinking change filter indicator light and it reset after a second or two. Done.
