I am giving this five stars right now where it could also be four stars. So the install is very easy. If you never replaced locks on a door the instructions they give is straight forward. The set-up once they are installed is also very simple and straight forward. I have had these installed for about two weeks. After the first five days when I went to unlock them with the app, it showed them as not connected to the internet. I tried to soft restart them by removing the battery but they never reconnected. I ended up fully factory resetting them and they reconnected and as of now they have been good. Now I do use a mesh wifi and instructions say they need a 2.4 GHz connection. I have other products that say the same and haven’t had any issues with connection, so I hope this was a one time thing. If it happens again, I will create a 2.4 GHz only one and see how that goes. But with all that being said, the physical buttons work fine and the Google home integration works fine too. You need to set a pin for Google to unlock them. But you don’t with the app. Speaking of the app, it’s not bad but does seem to hangup quite a bit. I wondered if the connection issue I had was a problem caused by the app. I have used the app to try and unlock them but sometimes it doesn’t work. When I use Google home to it will work. So again, I think it’s the app that just sometimes doesn’t work. But it is easy to use, to set up pins and users. I do wish there was a notification option on the app to select what type of notifications to receive. If you have the notifications on from your phone settings you will get a ton for every time the door locks or unlock. I wish you could limit those. I would only want notifications for my battery life or lost of connection. Something that I didn’t find in the guide but stumbled on it myself is turning on the backlit for the keypad. In the app setting there is a option to turn the keypad sound off, by doing so you turn the backlight on. So if you have the sound on, there is no backlight. But if you have the sound off, you get backlight. I prefer the backlit option for when it’s dark out. I will mention the backlights only come on when you press a button and doesn’t stay on. Also these do come with a key and it’s easy to rekey a existing one. Unfortunately my keys were to thick to work but I bought two of these for my front and back door, and re-keyed one do them to work for both doors. I will be sure keep this updated to see if there are any more connection issues and how the battery holds up. But I do really likes these and it’s nice to have different options to unlock them.Update 8/24Quick update regarding these locks. I know battery life was estimated at 4-6 months depending on use. I have had both locks with the original batteries over two months and had to replace them already. Now the battery life was at 40% and it would show jammed when closing or opening. I switched out the batteries and that went away. I will see how the new batteries hold up. Otherwise, I still haven’t had any connectivity issues since that one time. I have run into a couple of times where I punch my code in, and nothing happens. I punch it in again then it works. But this has been rare. I will continue to update these as time goes on.

Glad someone returned and I got the warehouse price.Works great. Easy to follow directions. If you have any issues like jamming, or wifi, I’d suggest it’s your installation or situation. Mine works fine.I have very high strength wifi signal. I also know how to adjust doors and door jamb locking areas. With any electric lock, having a secure and stable fit once the door is closed is extremely important. the deadbolt mechanism (of any electric lock) needs to be able to extend without hitting any part of the lock plate… even a small amount of drag will over work the small motors in these compact installations. plus this will drain batteries quickly and wear out the gears. If you get this right, these will last. I’ve had the previous non wifi kwikset models install for well over 5 years in multiple locations. Zero issues.Yes you will need to change the battery. have a backup key somewhere just in case. The moment you notice the lock sounds weak due to battery… change it almost immediately.I only use energizer max alkaline, this is the best alkaline battery on the market. Duracell being a close second… just go watch actual unpaid youtube testing to determine the best battery for your $$.Also, Kwikset explicitly states do not use Lithium. If you know battery chemistry you will understand why.Very good purchase. 1 month of use. Zero issues.

Used on my shop door. Good quality lock and the easy key feature is handy. Easy key is the reason all of my locks are Kwikset. Installation info was good and there are helpful videos if the print is too small for you.It is the quality I expect from Kwikset. I have previously purchase a Z-wave version Kwikset (3 years ago) and have been happy with it. Batteries are easy to change and the night light is a handy feature. Do not plug in batteries until everything is installed, it will not break the unit but can make it more difficult to install. Do not worry about alignment, just get the shaft ends lined up, the lock will figure it out when you install the battery. Also depending on how tight your door is you may have to adjust the plate on the door frame to get a smooth throw on the dead bolt. I had to adjust plates on both of my Kwikset locks so I was ready for this. If they are not aligned the lock will struggle and/or may time out leaving the door unlocked or partially locked.I use enelop rechargeable batteries and usually get 5 months between charges. Daily use.Install issue: the lock would not BT pair at first, after much rude language I canceled install closed app and tried again and it worked flawless. So do not start the app until the batteries are in or just try doing what I did.I recommend this lock it integrates well with Alexa and the action is smooth. They are a tad on the noisy side but given everything they are much easier to install than some other brands that are ZigBee or z-wave based. I use an iPhone so I can not speak to the android side of things.

Love that I don’t need a hub. Can use my phone, set up was long, with lots of steps, but guided and simple. I like the Kwikset key system, to change at home to another key, not requiring a locksmith. The exterior code, you can set so many, personalized to each family member or whomever needs to access the door, and set a schedule when it can work and not work. 4aa batteries, we will see how long they last, should be pretty good? My son is happy he doesn’t need to keep a key on him anymore. Be careful when you screw the sides together, one bolt was crossthreading easily…

I have a dog and walk him on average 4-5x a day. I have always hated bringing keys with me every time I go out to walk him or go running. This is a true game-changer! 10/10 fully recommend. There are a ton of features on this bad boy that not even I know about (that’s my boyfriend’s job), but I love not having to bring my house keys everywhere. I love the app and being able to lock it or unlock it from anywhere too! Don’t walk, run and buy this!

Got this to replace our builder keypad lock. I had to do a little adjustment to line it up with the predrilled holes. I have seen negative reviews about battery life. This has not been my experience. I think the trick here is to install it correctly where the dead bolt moves fluidly and does not have to fight through a rough opening in metal or wood to lock. Also use your hand to lock the door when you are close to it in the house and not the app to lock it exclusively. It has been a great replacement. With busy lives, it is great to use the app to see if you remembered to lock the front door. The timer feature that will lock the door for you after a certain period of time (say 10 minutes) has saved us more than once now. Great features, Grice and quality. I would buy it again for sure

I installed for a short term rental. Great lock! Love the ability to see that the house is locked and the people have checked in. Changing codes with time and date ability is priceless!
