Received 2 Sonos Ones yesterday from Amazon.$379 for 2, no shipping, no sales tax – saved around $50from what I would have paid at the local Bestbuy.Downloaded the Sonos app into both my wife’s and myandroid phones. Set up using the app was menu drivenand there was not much to do but answer some questionsand let the app do the work.I paired the living room speaker with the bedroom speaker sothey play the same music at the same time. This was the primaryreason I bought them (My wife wanted to listen to Pandora throughoutthe house while doing stuff or getting ready for whatever). The sound quality of the One’s versus the original 1’s is, in my opinion, noticeably better and certainly worth the extra $30-$50 per speaker. The One’s are voice compatible with both Google Play and AmazonAlexa. I did not set up voice control as I do not to use either and Idon’t like my tech listening to me waiting for a command. If I want to knowwhat the temperature is outside I am not going to ask my speakersfor that information, I will look at a thermometer. The app takes some getting used to and I downloaded a cheat sheet fromthe Sonos website for my wife to use explaining the icons and controls.Loading iHeart and Pandora was easy as I only needed to input myuser name and passwords for those services and they were addedautomatically to my list of available “services”. We have about10 music lists on Pandora and once you select it on the app, you can choosewhich music list you want to play from your saved lists…sameas with the Pandora app on the TV’s.There was also an option to listen to music from my phone, i.e.,music stored on my phone. I was under the impression that thisoption was not possible but maybe there has been a softwareupgrade which Sonos seems to roll out on a regular basis.Perhaps the most important thing is that my wife loves them sohappy wife, happy life. I was perfectly happy using my LG Atmossound bar & sub for music enjoyment, but my wife did not likethe Sony TV Pandora app (neither do I actually) and she wantedmusic in the bedroom/master bath…$379 done deal!

They sound great in my entry living room. I don’t need a lot of powerful speakers there. Just nice background music. Though, I am thinking of adding the mini-sub to properly fill the room with lower frequencies. The room is “open to above”, meaning the ceiling is twice the normal height (like 17 feet up). As for the voice recognition: Because I have legacy zones from 10+ years ago, I cannot upgrade them to the S2 level. This meant I had to downgrade the new Sonos One pairs to S1. This also meant not using the Sonos voice recognition, but instead use Google Assistant. Well, there are expected limitations with that. First, when I say “Hey Google”, both the left speaker and my cellphone respond! Minor annoyance… Second: I cannot ask it to play any artist or genre. It will only respond to turning the volume up/down “hey Google – turn up” – “hey Google – go to level 5”, or “shut off”. On the plus side, it does all non-Sonos commands, which is cool, and what Sonos’ voice assistant most likely cannot do? So, I can say “Hey Google, what’s the weather in Rio de Janeiro, and I get an answer, etc. All in all, I’m lovin’ the addition. Just wish I could upgrade all my other three zones to S2. I just have older stuff (Connect Amp, Connect Bridge, Play 3).

I bought these two as surround sound to go with Sonos Beam (2nd Gen) and the Sub mini. I’ve watched two movies and surround more than delivered. From that aspect they are five stars. I will do more things with them like use them as a stereo pair which you can’t do when they are in surround mode and report back.BTW. That is one negative that you have to unpair them from surround to use as a stereo pair but not worth a star deduction. The sound more than compensates

Surround system with 4 speakers to Amazon app. Works great but you have to manually controll volume of 2 speakers in a single room setting. If there is a way I don’t know how to do it !

We have 10 Sonos speakers throughout our house , 5’s, 3’s, 1’s, soundbar and base – (so clearly love it). We bought the Gen 3 (alexa interface) for our parents (in their 70’s) to make it easy for them to play music & radio in different, and while the Sonos app is easy to use, the Alexa app makes it even easier, and they love it, can create speaker pairs, or play separately, and Alexa still answers all their questions. Only down side, it Alexa does not currently do the routines that the Gen 2 can do, i.e. “Alexa good morning” – Turn on lights, tell me news, weather and turn on NRP in the bedroom. I assume it will be in next Alexa update?

These are great speakers and totally worth the money. I paired them up with a beam sound bar in my living room. We enjoy them while watching movies and just listening to music.

After two years experience with a Sonos One (Gen 2) in the basement bar we decided to build out our home sound system with this pair of Sonos One (Gen 2) in our living room. Installation was, in a word, simple. The living room speakers are paired for left and right stereo sound. Recently added a Sonos Beam in the basement bar and a second Beam in our family room. We use this setup daily to play music from JRiver, Spotify, and Plex. We couldn’t be more pleased with the sound quality and ease-of-use. Note: we value our privacy and have not yet set up Alexa or Google Assistant… maybe someday but we’re in no hurry.

The Sonos One is the perfect smart speaker for streaming music, podcasts, and online radio, as well as listening to audio books. It also integrates seamlessly with the Samsung SmartThings hub, giving me complete control over other smart home devices and the rooms in which I want audio to play at any given time. The only down side of Alexa integration is that some features like Alexa calling, drop-in, and the Alexa Skype skill are not yet supported by Sonos, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time until these features get incorporated.
