Never bought one of these before. Price seemed high for a fan and I thought all fans were basically the same. This fan’s technology was new to me.I will start by saying the Vornado does make a huge difference in lowering the temperature feel in a room especially in smaller rooms. We have central air in the house but don’t run it often. I like my room cold so have been running a window air conditioner on max almost every night in the summer for years. Had to get rid of the window AC this year due to a damaged window. I have to say the Vornado has performed admirably on 90 degree days alongside central air. The Vornado re-circulates the air extremely well and you really feel the difference. Even on its own you immediately feel the difference over a standard fan.The remote works well. For anyone bothered by the light on the fan display you can put a piece of mail over it without blocking out the sensor so the remote still works. The fan timer is a nice touch. You can set the timer for 6-8 hours so it shuts off before you wake up. If you are looking at buying a Vornado I would highly recommend this model over the others for ease of use, power, and reliability… for some reason people had a lot of issues with some of the other more basic Vornado models without the remote. As for the many reviews complaining about the noise, I actually like it. Running at 50 speed, the noise of the fan helps to greatly reduce outside noise. The fan creates more of a white noise sound anyways and you quickly get used to it. Have run it at 70+ speed as a change of pace and the noise did bother me though. But running it at 50 speed is the best of both worlds, blocks out outside noises that might wake you up in the morning and makes a big difference in how cool the room feels.Overall, for a regular sized bedroom, the Vornado comes highly recommended. But for very large rooms or open areas you would probably need something else entirely like a high powered window air conditioner.

Smaller than my original free-standing Vornado, but works just as well. I very much appreciate the stable floor stand; my last Vornado had this ‘twisted tube’ thing going on, and it was pretty easy to tip over (and break!). This one is rock solid, with an attractive look. The remote control is a nice feature, but the remote is tiny; I can foresee the day when that thing gets lost down the sofa cushions. The unit came with the stand disassembled, but putting it together was a snap-and-a-half; I didn’t even have to refer to the directions, it was that intuitive. The fan uses a DC motor. It’s a bit different than other fans in that it fires up more quickly and efficiently to the last speed you set, and when you turn it off it’s OFF and spins down almost immediately; almost like it’s got brakes. I’m not overly crazy about the big transformer (inverter? converter?) box that’s inline on the power cord – seems like that could have been easily hidden in the lower section of the base. Vornado is a premium-priced fan, and this heavy, clunky black box in the middle of the cord doesn’t look premium.I’m not sure what that rear fin is either. It says it’s an ‘air accelerator’, but think I’d need someone to explain the science behind that claim to know if it actually does accelerate air flow. At any rate, it’s a handy place to wrap the cord. The range of movement is vertical to just south of horizontal, so it won’t point downward.All-in-all, the fan’s performance exceeded my expectations by quite a margin. It moves a huge volume of air for it’s size, and it’s less noisy than my previous model. I’m able to use my AC less, but still have a comfortable temperature range in the (large) room where the fan is located .As always, no ‘free or reduced price in exchange for my review’ here. I paid the full list price for it, and my views and opinions are my own, based on my own experiences. I hope you’ll find something helpful here as you shop for a good fan.Dean Buzzell

After ordering and returning a pair of inexpensive, poorly made, unacceptably loud/vibrating pedestal fans, we purchased this Vornado with brushless DC motor. The tool-free assembly takes five minutes. It’s a nice-looking piece of hardware; the pieces fit together nicely and the fan is very stable. This 9-inch diameter unit moves more air more quietly and with less vibration than the 18-inch heaps we bought and returned. It does not oscillate, but if it’s properly positioned in the room, it doesn’t have to. The head unit is perfectly damped and can be positioned anywhere between parallel and perpendicular to the floor. The control unit consists of touch controls for increasing and decreasing speed (variable, 1-99) and push buttons for power and timer. The remote controls all of these features as well, which might be handy if the fan were in our bedroom. At maximum speed (99), there is a fair amount of wind noise, but the fan remains remarkably stable. We’ll probably keep it running between 60 to 75 in our decent-sized living room with vaulted ceilings. The fan is well-made, and there is ZERO vibration. This model is purported to be extremely energy efficient. I have no means of tracking energy consumption, but brushless DC motors are inherently more efficient, more powerful, and last longer. If anything, we won’t have to buy a new fan every year or so. This Vornado throws air around effortlessly, quietly, and with no vibration or wobble, so I suspect it will last many years while consuming minimal energy. As for the cons, the black power cord and brick ruin the good looks. The plastic is a high-gloss white, and the heavy-gauge metal stand is a lovely neutral gray. I wish the cord and power supply were white to match. And yes, it’s pricey.Great product. Love it.

This fan is a beast machine. By that I mean it is like a wind tunnel in my large studio apartment. It really does throw out air 85 feet. I can hardly wait for the monster heat that California can have in the summer. I have always loved the Varnado product – all my fans have been Varnado. The only real downside is the remote. It is incredibly tiny and is going to get lost in a matter of days and the worst of it is it cannot be activated unless you have a #1 Phillips head screwdriver which I believe very few people have on hand. Because I cannot open the battery door without the screwdriver I have had to toss the remote in a tool cabinet and forget it. Varnado designers really need to work on this -perhaps throw in a #1 Phillips screwdriver with the product. At $150+ this one thing is a super flaw in an otherwise perfect product. During coronavirus lockdown I can’t exactly go to a hardware store just to get a #1 Phillips head screwdriver. Vornado please think about this. Finally, I had reason to call Vornado customer service when unpacking. And in the middle of this “coronavirus no customer service” I was amazed to have immediate response. And the person was actually an American! No offshore monkey business for this USA company.(Update) in use approximately two months and have found the power cord to be very frustrating. An extremely weak design – it keeps disconnecting under the pedestal every time I move the fan. This is a bad design for a fan of this price. It is like a high school science project design – definitely needs to go back to the drawing board please.June: : it is now in the hot summer with some 91° days and no breezes. This fan is amazing. It aerates an otherwise stuffy studio apartment in an old building. Have had this stuffy apartment for a few years but now for the first time it is very tolerable. Definitely fresh air. Best fan I have had so far.UPDATE October 2020: this fan has made it through the gauntlet of insane weather conditions. It moves up to 5⭐️ Because it functioned nonstop in that orange sky you see in the photo above which was the San Francisco Bay area at 11:00 AM where California wildfire smoke obstructed the sun and turned the landscape into Mars. A few days of 100° and the fan just kept cranking. Whisper quiet. Motor tolerating the unthinkable.

Very powerful yet quiet fan. I’ve been looking for a strong fan to use in our bedroom that would be quiet and after buying and returning a few I finally found this one. We really love it. It’s surprising how powerful this little fan is.After we got one for our daughter, I ordered another one immediately for our bedroom.Several surprising features:1. Remote control – I would have never believed that a remote control to a fan would make it so much more convenient.2. 99 fan speeds – at first I thought it’s an overkill. There is nothing that 3 button positions that most fans have would not cover. Wrong. Again, you don’t realize how much difference there is in small speed adjustment until you have a fan that can do it.3. Super powerful – it’s so powerful the highest speed we’ve ever used it at was 35.4. Super quiet – the engineering behind this fan is ingenious. How can such a small fan be so powerful yet so quiet? We use it all night and sometimes I don’t know whether it’s on or it’s just the wind outside.Simply. Amazing.

This is one stout little fan. I’m picky about the products that I bring home and place in any of my rooms. This is designed very well and works exactly as you’d expect. Fan noise is somewhat subjective. Even though they do list the decibels at different velocities, it’s still a personal opinion about sound. I keep this one in my bedroom and when it’s at a comfortable fan speed you can still hear the fan when sleeping. However, I want some white noise while I sleep since I’m a very light sleeper. This is a smooth white noise and is just right at a setting of “25”. I have another one of these in my home office, and I boost it up a little bit when the remote when I’m not on a phone call, and when a call comes through I dropped it down to 5 or 10, I can’t hear it, and neither can the people on the phone. And that low-level does still keep the air moving quite satisfactorily. Overall it’s just a great little fan. On the noise level, I gave it a four because even though I think it’s still quiet enough for me I was kind of hoping it would be a little quieter at some of the higher ranges like over “40”. But I understand that when you move air you gotta make some noise. I guess I’m being a little picky here too. But again this is a great fan, I would recommend to anybody and I’m sure I will be buying more of them. As matter fact I did buy a 2nd one of these and its older, bigger brother the 660 model and I’m thoroughly enjoying that one as well, even though it has a 5 year warranty instead of a 10-year warranty.

As someone who sleeps with a fan every night, this is by far the best fan I’ve ever owned!!! I will never own a different kind of fan again.

Vornado actually saved me from sweltering summer heat in Los Angeles California because I do not have air conditioning. The low wattage would let me run it off a small solar power station in case of an electrical outage. I bought 4 other Vornado energy smart fans this summer, for different rooms in my condo.. and I use them every hour of every day. Guess what? My utility bill has not increasedThank you Vornado for quality, cost effective products and thank you Amazon Prime for super fast, free, dependable delivery

This is my 4th Vornado I have owned and my favorite. It is strong, quiet, and efficient (everything my wife wishes I was). It is controlled by Alexa with one caveat- I can tell Alexa to turn on “Storm Trooper” ( as I have affectionately named it) and she will turn on the plug ONLY. I still have to use the remote or the button on the fan itself to turn the actual fan on (uggh, it’s those electronic controls). However, I do have my Alexa programmed to shut it off via the plug when I leave or tell her good night. So technically, it half functions with a home assistant. I have the 7803 Vornado ( I call that one Darth Vader) which works great with Alexa via a smart plug. The 6803DC is the same height as the 7803, however the fan on the 7803 is bigger. There is no oscillation on either one which some find unacceptable but I don’t, both of them push out plenty of air to not need it. They both have tilting heads with a built in carry handle at the top. Both come well boxed and are extremely easy to assemble. Some have complained about the cord being black and having a brick attachment (6803DC) but I don’t mind. My Alexa is black with a white cord and it doesn’t bother me either-I’m an equal opportunity cord owner! The 6803DC comes with a cute, tiny remote with nothing but Vornado on it. Some have complained about that but it’s a FAN, on-off, speed up-speed down and a timer (yes it has a timer), it’s not rocket science. The variable speed control is pretty cool, and noise level is acceptable and tolerable ( at least compared to my 2 exes). Yes this fan is a little pricey, but it has a 10 year warranty, looks classy, and has a good wife acceptance factor. I have purchased and own other name brand fans and the Vornado ( both the 6803DC and 7803 ) are Lear jets while the others are merely Cessna’s in terms of performance. Highly recommended!!

Love the brand Vornado. They don’t disappoint when it comes to their products. This fan moves air and can cool down a room quickly. Perfect for sleeping (if you need the fan noise to sleep). You can turn it on to a very quiet hum to hurricane force noise.
