I purchased this kettle to replace one that had failed. I live in Northern California and have installed 240 volt outlets in my kitchen so that I can use the high power foreign appliances. This kettle is much quieter than the one it replaced. It heats quickly and the temperature readout is a nice plus. I had to replace the two prong “European” plug with a British standard plug to fit my outlets. It is worth noting that most houses in the United States do have 240 volts available. I feel it was totally worth while to upgrade my kitchen to use the high power appliances.
